Hours: Variable between 9am to 5pm weekdays

Pay: £16.00 - £22.00/session delivered

Other: Must have own transport

Background:

Gym In Motion Ltd in conjunction with various healthcare providers coordinates and delivers various falls prevention and balance classes as well as tailored seated exercise classes to older clients. This two tiered approach has created a continuum of specific exercise aimed at older clients who have a history of falling.

Both organisations aim to deliver preventative health interventions through an exercise referral pathway to reduce the growing number of falls and to combat the associated costs linked to the health and social sector.

In addition the service aims to:

  • Promote and develop greater independence, quality of life and a healthy active lifestyle among older clients

  • Prevent hospital admissions that occur as a result of a fall

  • Provide a service to meet the needs of an ageing and growing population

Gym In Motion is looking for a fitness instructor to safely deliver their fitness programs as per their guidelines. Essential to the role is the ability to interact with older persons effectively to ensure the service provided is safe, professional and meets high standards. The successful applicant will have the ability to motivate older persons to maintain adherence.

The successful applicant must have the ability to deliver strength and balance classes as well as chair based exercise classes. A high level of initiative is required to ensure that a centred approach is established and maintained at all times.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of exercise classes and falls prevention programs for older adults in line with Gym In Motion and national guidelines

  • Ensure programs are progressive and reflective of the needs of the clients in line with health and safety standards

  • Continually motivate clients to increase adherence to exercise programs

  • Interact with referred clients, monitoring support and providing individual support and advice. Ensure that all sessions and activities are monitored in line with agreed targets

  • Provide information and session data to contribute to the timely monitoring and evaluation process

Communication:

  • Motivate, support and reassure clients in relation to physical activity and health, whilst being considerate of and understanding barriers to change

  • Communicate effectively and interact collaboratively with clients, partners and stakeholders to resolve issues or problems arising

  • Manage client relationships with professionalism whilst being discreet and sensitive to their needs

Training and Development:

  • The applicant will have a national recognised L2 or L3 fitness qualification and or a suitably recognised qualification in Strength and Balance Falls Prevention.

  • Update CPD professional knowledge and skills in line with current developments and guidelines in relation to the delivery of exercise referral programs and specialist populations ie: older persons, mental health etc.

Organisational Responsibilities:

  • Have a flexible approach to working hours in order to meet the needs of the service

  • Collate and submit accurate and timely data as necessary for the purpose of monitoring and evaluation

  • Work with established protocols and service level agreements as directed

  • Maintain accurate records and information systems in line with company policies

  • Assist in the monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the effectiveness of program interventions

  • Establish and maintain health and safety standards within all programs, ensuring that all activities are risk assessed and under taken with due regard to health and safety regulations

Special Conditions:

  • The applicant must agree to an enhanced Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) check

  • Due to the nature of working with vulnerable adults, to ensure their safety the applicant would need to enter into a Non Disclosure Agreement

  • The applicant will be required to wear branded shirt and ID Badge at all times when presenting Gym In Motion sessions
